Essential Functions

  • Manage, design, permit, and supervise installations
  • Inspect, diagnose, repair, repair, and maintain drinking fountains and irrigation system within Park and Recreation properties
  • Provides a high level of maintenance for turf and landscaping areas within the City
  • Loads and unloads tools, irrigation materials, and equipment onto trucks
  • Performs general technical and preventive maintenance on sprinkler systems
  • Checks oils, cleans parts, and makes adjustments to ensure system is maintained in proper operating condition
  • Makes diagnoses of problems when possible or refers to journey level irrigation worker for effective repair of sprinkler systems
  • Performs a variety of activities such as digging trenches, driving tractor to pull water tank, using chain saws, and weed eaters to assist with irrigation system maintenance
  • Provides quality customer service and competent public interaction
  • Performs any and all other work as required or assigned

Knowledge And Skills

  • Knowledge of basic principles and practices of installing and maintaining irrigation systems
  • Ability to perform manual labor including use of hand tools such as shovels and pipe wrenches
  • Maintaining and operating hand and power tools
  • Knowledge and understanding of safety procedures
  • Ability to read and write
  • Ability to perform labor for extended periods of time
  • Establishing and maintaining strong relationships

Experience

  • Minimum Qualifications: 3 years installing irrigation or working with landscaping

Licenses and Certifications

  • Texas Installer License

Education

  • High School Diploma, GED
