Park Maintenance Worker 1/2 - Irrigation Technician

DEPARTMENT: Parks

Responsibilities

• Performs general irrigation duties.
• Assists in the design, layout and installation of sprinkler systems.
• Selects line sizes, sprinkler spacing, type and control equipment.
• Installs, tests, and maintains systems utilizing low voltage, hydraulic, or other operating features.
• Repairs sprinkler heads and inspects sprinkling systems to assure operation.
• Performs a variety of working level skilled and semi-skilled duties related to the construction, installation, maintenance, upkeep and repair of recreation facilities, parks, grounds and general environs.
• Gardener for all sports parks and cross-trained in maintaining and prepping sports fields.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Minimum requirements: Graduation from high school or equivalent and two years of progressively responsible experience in the maintenance, upkeep, and beautification of turf, parks, facilities and related environs; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum qualifications: Some knowledge of equipment such as backhoe, loader, dump truck, mowers, tractor, power over-seeders, aerators, thatcher, welders, trimmers, etc.; landscape and sprinkler system design; flow pumps; of hazards and related safety precautions associated with equipment operations; of herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, and pesticides, and proper application of the same; of turf management; of interpersonal communication skills.
• Certified Irrigation Technician preferred.

Pay

PAY RANGE: Depending on experience and qualifications with starting pay generally not starting above the mid-point.

Parks Worker 1: $19.84

Parks Worker 2: $22.70
