Senior Investment Tax Analyst

About the role

At BBH, the Sr. Tax Analyst will prepare and train others in calculating partnership tax workpapers—including partner allocation of taxable income and expense items, tax returns and their associated schedules and attachments, reportable transaction analysis, fund structure guidance, tax estimates, and other client deliverables. This role requires alternative tax experience, a strong client relationship focus, and a team-oriented attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review investment security analysis and work with Financial Reporting and Fund Accounting teams to clear audit points.
  • Prepare and review the income tax provision and clear audit points.
  • Review income tax allocations to each partner, including awareness of specially allocated items and the application of incentive and management fees.
  • Consult and train others on fund structures to ensure proper flow-through of income and expense items.
  • Review prepared reportable transactions.
  • Prepare federal and state tax returns using tax software, clear audit points, and file returns on behalf of clients with federal and local tax agencies.

Requirements

  • BS/BA degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of two years of partnership tax experience.
  • Solid understanding of tax concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Strong client service skills.
  • Ability to understand financial statements, fund accounting reports, and spreadsheets.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Understanding of mutual fund-related tax code sections, forms, elections, and tax adjustments of securities.
  • Ability to conceptualize and execute projects and initiatives through to completion.
  • Creative problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify, recommend, and implement solutions for tax-related client issues.

Pay

Salary range for Massachusetts: $65,000 - $90,000 base salary plus an annual target bonus. BBH’s compensation program includes base salary, discretionary bonuses, and profit-sharing, with variations based on location, cost of living, and individual qualifications.
