About the role

Support global indirect tax operations across multiple jurisdictions in a fast-paced, internationally distributed environment. Own key elements of VAT and indirect tax compliance, ensuring accurate reporting, accounting, submissions, and payments. Combine technical tax expertise with opportunities to improve processes through automation, tax technology, and AI-driven solutions. Collaborate with tax technology, finance, accounting, and other cross-functional teams to strengthen efficiency and controls. Play an important role in audits, digital tax reporting, e-invoicing, and resolving tax-related questions from internal and customer-facing teams.

Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end VAT and indirect tax compliance activities across multiple jurisdictions, including data review, preparation, submission, and payment processes.
  • Execute indirect tax accounting activities during month-end and quarter-end close, including reconciliations, controls, and management review procedures.
  • Support global e-invoicing, Continuous Transaction Controls (CTCs), and digital tax reporting requirements across applicable jurisdictions.
  • Collaborate with tax technology teams to identify opportunities for automation, process optimization, and AI-enabled improvements within the tax function.
  • Support the implementation and enhancement of technology-driven tax processes and solutions.
  • Respond to information requests and audits from tax authorities, external auditors, and internal stakeholders, ensuring accurate and well-documented responses.
  • Provide support to customer-facing teams by researching and responding to indirect tax questions and issues.
  • Maintain accurate tax documentation and records while ensuring processes comply with applicable regulations and internal controls.
  • Apply sound tax and accounting judgment to complex, multi-jurisdictional transactions and operational requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance tax accuracy, efficiency, scalability, and reporting quality.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in indirect tax, preferably within a multinational organization with complex, multi-jurisdictional operations.
  • Demonstrated experience with indirect tax compliance, general ledger accounting, and tax advisory activities.
  • Strong knowledge of VAT and indirect tax processes across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Experience working with tax technology platforms such as Oracle, Avalara, Zuora, or comparable solutions.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and its application to tax-related accounting processes.
  • Familiarity with global e-invoicing, digital tax reporting, and Continuous Transaction Control requirements is valuable.
  • Experience supporting tax audits and responding to information requests from tax authorities, auditors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Background in both Big Four and in-house tax environments is preferred.
  • Telecommunications or technology-industry tax experience is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create clear and comprehensive tax documentation.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with geographically distributed and cross-functional teams.
  • Comfortable working with technology and identifying opportunities to automate and improve tax processes.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a global environment.
