For more information, visit www.ascendtogether.com. Senior International Tax Manager Sweeney Conrad is seeking an experienced tax professional to join our team as a Senior International Tax Manager. This role will serve as a key advisor to clients on the tax implications of their business objectives, recommend strategic alternatives, and identify opportunities to support tax compliance and efficiency across multiple jurisdictions. The Senior International Tax Manager will lead complex international and U.S. tax engagements, including cross-border transactions, entity structuring, income tax treaty planning, global tax compliance, and federal and state tax matters. As we continue to grow our international tax offerings, this role will also require working with US-only individuals and entities and supporting them in their needs. This role will provide strategic tax planning and compliance support to clients with domestic and international tax needs while offering technical leadership on multi-jurisdictional issues and overseeing the implementation of tax strategies. The role will also involve collaborating with clients, internal service teams, external advisors, and tax authorities to develop practical solutions to complex international tax matters. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in international tax law, strong analytical and communication skills, and a proven ability to lead client engagements and mentor tax professionals. This role will also play an instrumental part in supporting the International Partner in the development and establishment of the international team. This position offers an opportunity to play a significant role in shaping Sweeney Conrad’s international tax practice including design of team, developing client relationships, supporting business growth, and contributing to the firm’s continued success in a fast-paced and collaborative environment. This position reports directly to the Partner of Tax and is based in Kirkland, Washington, with a hybrid work schedule. Specific Duties Will Include Advise multinational enterprises and high-net-worth individuals on global tax planning, including the short- and long-term implications of cross-border business and investment decisionsAdvise on income tax treaty planning opportunities related to inbound and outbound cross-border investments, trading activities, and business operations.Develop and implement international tax strategies that support compliance with U.S., local, and international tax laws and regulationsOversee the preparation and review of international tax compliance work, including tax reporting and filing obligations for foreign subsidiaries, affiliates, partnerships, and individualsAdvise US-only enterprises and high-net-worth individuals on tax planning and preparation of tax returns.Monitor developments in international tax law, tax treaties, regulations, and accounting procedures, and communicate relevant changes to clients and team membersAssist with the preparation and delivery of engagement proposals, support business development initiatives, and maintain and expand a professional network within the international tax communityBuild and maintain strong client relationships while continuing to develop the firm’s reputation and presence in the international tax professionProvide leadership, guidance, and technical support to staff and other tax professionals on international tax mattersPerform other duties as assigned by the department managers The successful candidate will have CPA or EA License (CPA preferred)Minimum bachelor’s degree in Accounting or TaxationMinimum 8 years of tax experience, with approximately 5–8 years in International TaxMinimum 5 years of experience of experience managing engagements, reviewing returns, developing client relationships, and mentoring staffExperience with investments involving foreign mutual funds and reporting for U.S. entitiesKnowledge and experience with processing Form 5471Understanding of foreign trusts is a plusProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint Demonstrated experience in managing multiple tasks and in organizing and prioritizing work assignments and ongoing duties Ability to communicate effectively and timely in writing and verbally with colleagues, clients, and other external partners Ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment While not required, the following skills would be considered an asset Master of Science in Taxation, Juris Doctor, or LL.M. with a concentration in taxationFluency in a second language
