Senior International Policy Adviser, THE BRITISH ACADEMY

About the role

This is a new role in the Academy’s Global Strategy, Policy & Engagement Team. This role has a substantive focus on global research and innovation policy and EU research and innovation and international mobility policy and particularly will help to build out the Academy’s global research and innovation policy activities to begin with.

Responsibilities

• Explore the international connectedness of the humanities and social sciences in an increasingly contested world.
• Understand and advise on the role of and support needed for the humanities and social sciences in the international funding landscape.
• Highlight the importance of the SHAPE disciplines to international innovation collaboration.
• Build impactful relationships with policymakers, researchers, and the research and innovation sector.
• Engage in challenging stakeholders and counterparts to drive policy and advocacy efforts.

Requirements

The role is well suited to candidates who have experience in international engagement and international research and innovation policy who are able to hit the ground running.

Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with a PhD in a relevant field, extensive experience in international policy and research, and strong communication skills.

Skills

• Strong understanding of global research and innovation policy.
• Experience in building and maintaining relationships with policymakers and stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to engage in strategic planning and policy development.
