Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Interior Designer to join our client's Richmond, VA office. This role is ideal for a senior design professional with extensive commercial interior design experience who is ready to lead projects, mentor junior designers, build client relationships, and contribute to business development.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead programming, space planning, and design development
- Perform and oversee field verification and existing-condition documentation
- Develop and manage construction documents
- Lead finish and furniture selections, specifications, and presentations
- Collaborate with clients, consultants, contractors, and project teams
- Coverage of construction administration
- Maintain and strengthen long-term client relationships
- Support business development and repeat-work initiatives
- Mentor and guide junior interior design staff
- Ensure projects meet applicable building codes and industry standards
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Interior Design
- 15+ years of professional interior design experience
- Strong commercial interior design project leadership experience
- Active NCIDQ Certification required
- Proficiency with Revit
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu
- Strong knowledge of building codes and industry standards
- Excellent client-facing, communication, and leadership skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects from design through construction administration
- Experience with 3D rendering software preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with InDesign, SketchUp, Photoshop
- Experience across corporate, healthcare, higher education, transportation, or government projects
