About the role

A Creative Design Solutions Sr. Designer is responsible for highly creative design sketches, product research, presentations, and high-level 3D direction. Provides creative support for multiple projects to ensure they align with design requirements, business needs, and company strategies. Acts as the “creative engine” in the design process, feeding project development with exciting 2D/3D concepts and design solutions. May act as Project Lead (PL). Can execute and operate independently or as part of a diverse design development team to coordinate and perform a full range of automotive product concept and design creation, including styling sketches (2D/3D), consumer research, original design creation with 3D data, concept development, CG animation presentations, and early evaluation. Presents and manages original design creations and the implementation of chosen directions based on project and business requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the project(s) scope and deliverables for Minor Model changes and may lead Full Model Changes, guaranteeing proposed output based on Creative Lead, Global Design Director direction, and Executive evaluations and project milestones.
  • Provides highly skilled styling direction within the project scope to ensure high-quality appearance and design maturation of approved strategies and creative themes.
  • Presents all project materials in a highly professional manner at all needed events and evaluations so the audience can clearly understand the proposals.
  • Creates project documents and supports 2D/3D and CG animation material for evaluations and team-related presentations to Creative Leads and Global Creative Directors to ensure high-quality presentations.
  • Provides strong creative solutions and problem-solving skills, supported by studio TE, to address feasibility challenges and give feedback to HDMA and project teams to realize the approved design theme.
  • Negotiates and communicates styling schedule and deliverables with all involved parties to ensure completion of project deliverables.
  • Communicates frequently with all PICs, team members, and customers (internal and external) to promote a high level of project correlation for current and upcoming tasks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Transportation, or Product Design, or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • At least 5 or more years of relevant industry experience after completion of academics.
  • Strong leadership, communication, presentation, creative, and technical skills.
  • High proficiency in Photoshop, 2D/3D sketching and rendering, PowerPoint, Alias, Illustrator, Blender 3D, CG animation programs, AI tools, and related software.
  • Understanding of automotive design principles.
  • Highly motivated.
