Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Senior Interior Designer for its Commercial Retail & Hospitality Design Studio in New York, NY. The role involves designing and creating schematics and concepts that meet programming requirements and health and safety codes, leading full cycle projects from concept to install.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design and documentation of retail and hospitality projects under the guidance of senior designers, architects, and project managers.
  • Aid in developing design concepts, space plans, material palettes, furniture selections, and presentation materials that align with client brand standards and project objectives.
  • Create construction drawing sets and create presentation materials.
  • Lead the planning, schematic design, and construction documentation phases for national retail and hospitality clients.
  • Act as a key design leader, fostering collaboration with clients and coordinating seamlessly across multiple internal disciplines to deliver thoughtful, high-quality design solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field from an accredited university required.
  • 5-8 years of professional experience in retail, hospitality, commercial, workplace, or related design environments.
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp and Enscape required; experience with Adobe Creative Suite, and rendering software preferred.
  • Familiarity with building codes, accessibility requirements, and construction documentation processes is preferred.
  • Strong graphic, visual communication, and presentation skills with an eye for detail and design aesthetics.
  • Ability to interpret client brand standards and translate them into engaging customer and guest experiences.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment while managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Self-motivated with a desire to learn, grow professionally, and develop expertise in retail and hospitality design.
  • Pursuit of professional licensure (NCIDQ or Architectural Registration) is encouraged but not required.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
