Senior Interior Designer
Responsibilities
- Lead the design of interior projects of varying sizes and levels of complexity from concept through completion
- Participate in and oversee design control throughout all project phases, including schematic design, design development, and space planning
- Manage project budgets and ensure that design solutions align with client financial parameters
- Collaborate closely with clients to understand and achieve their design goals, delivering solutions that meet or exceed expectations
- Build, maintain, and strengthen relationships with clients, contractors, and vendors to support successful project delivery
- Provide day-to-day leadership to the design team, setting clear expectations and ensuring high-quality design output
- Mentor and train junior designers, including at least two junior team members, in both technical design tools and professional soft skills
- Participate in business development activities, including supporting marketing efforts, pursuing new clients, and expanding work with existing clients
- Use design software tools, including Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and other visualization tools, to develop and present design concepts
Essential Skills
- 8+ years of professional interior design experience
- NCIDQ certification is preferred but not required
- Advanced proficiency in Revit
- Proficiency in AutoCAD for interior design documentation and coordination
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite for presentations, graphics, and visual communication
- Experience with schematic design, design development, and space planning
- Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets and align design solutions with financial constraints
- Past project experience in one or more of the following markets: hospitality, workplace, multifamily, Senior living, or country clubs
- Ability to lead and manage design teams in a deadline-driven environment

This Senior Interior Designer role focuses on managing interior design projects of varying sizes and complexity while providing strong team leadership. You will guide projects through all phases of design, ensure alignment with client goals and budgets, and cultivate lasting relationships with clients, contractors, and vendors. The role also includes active participation in business development and marketing efforts with new and existing clients, as well as mentoring junior designers and contributing to a collaborative, deadline-driven studio environment.

This role is based in a long-established, award-winning architecture and design firm located in the West Loop area of Chicago, with a history of over sixty years. The firm has evolved from a focus on corporate interiors to a diverse portfolio that includes mixed-use, retail and entertainment, institutional, corporate interiors, hospitality, amenity, and commercial projects. The position is salaried, with a hybrid schedule of four days in the office and one remote day each week. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $43.37 - $52.88/hr.
