About the role
This role offers performance-based remote flexibility, allowing you to earn additional work-from-home opportunities, as well as quarterly bonus potential tied to measurable success. You’ll work as internal counsel alongside a first-rate team of subject matter experts in law, insurance, and business operations.
Responsibilities
- Work as internal counsel in conjunction with claims to strategize, implement, and manage representation of CURE in PIP and Coverage litigation cases in both Forthright and the Superior Court, from inception to conclusion, by trial or dispositive hearing
- Evaluate and provide detailed analysis of assigned cases in accordance with CURE’s staff counsel policies and procedures, including trial and expense control
- Collaborate with CURE’s Claims Department to establish, communicate, and implement team litigation objectives and obtain prompt resolution of claims
- Prepare and respond to arbitration demands and/or pleadings and discovery
- Prepare and handle arbitration submissions and Rule 35 applications for dismissal in Forthright matters
- Plan, take, and defend Examinations Under Oath (EUO) and depositions
- Attend Forthright arbitrations, motion hearings, arbitration hearings, and all other pre-trial matters
- Prepare for and try cases
- Draft and argue post-arbitration/trial motions and appeals in both Forthright and the Superior Court
- Negotiate high-level settlement agreements
Requirements
- JD required from an ABA-accredited law school
- Admitted to practice, and in good standing, with MI State Bar
- At least 5+ years insurance defense experience in both Forthright and the Superior Court
- Experience independently managing a caseload of PIP and Coverage matters, working cases from beginning to end
- Excellent research, writing, and presentation communication skills
- Ability to think critically, analyze complex information, and problem solve with expedience
- Highly collaborative working style with demonstrated commitments to meeting individual and team goals
- Adaptable and computer savvy with an ability to navigate multiple systems

Pay
Starting Salary: $130,000 - $160,000
Schedule
Flexible work hours between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, with options like 8–4, 8:30–4:30, or 9–5. Hybrid work environment with four days in the office and one remote day, plus the opportunity to earn additional remote flexibility based on performance.
