Senior Infrastructure Engineer
About the role

As part of the Platform team, you will help build, operate, and constantly improve our infrastructure offerings for 150+ client organizations. The team adopts best infrastructure practices and leverages 100% automation to scale product offerings and reduce costs. You will collaborate with passionate team members across the country to reduce the burden of disease.
Looking back on your first 12 months at Komodo Health, you will have accomplished:
- Developed a deep understanding of Platform and its customers
- Built and operated cloud infrastructure (AWS) based on customer requirements
- Solved development and deployment challenges to make Platform infrastructure highly reliable, easy to maintain, and cost-effective
- Participated in the development, execution, and support of new feature rollouts with solution architects, forward-deployed engineers, and customer success teams
- Led improvements to data infrastructure, pipeline automation, codebase quality, and/or data quality
- Designed, architected, and/or implemented systems for supporting data processing tasks, such as metadata, configuration, and data pipeline inputs
- Developed and contributed to existing and new monitoring and alerting systems for Platform infrastructure
- Hardened infrastructure security, including network, storage, and user access
- Responded to and resolved key customer-reported issues in a timely manner
- Participated in an on-call rotation
- Spearheaded the adoption of AI-driven development workflows, integrating LLM-based tools into the SDLC to accelerate feature delivery and reduce mean time to resolution (MTTR)
Responsibilities
- Architect, build, and operate scalable cloud infrastructure (AWS) based on customer requirements
- Develop and maintain highly reliable, easy-to-maintain, and cost-effective infrastructure solutions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including solution architects, forward-deployed engineers, and customer success teams, to roll out new features
- Improve data infrastructure, pipeline automation, codebase quality, and data quality
- Design and implement systems for data processing tasks, such as metadata, configuration, and data pipeline inputs
- Enhance monitoring and alerting systems for Platform infrastructure
- Strengthen infrastructure security, including network, storage, and user access
- Resolve customer-reported issues promptly
- Participate in an on-call rotation
- Drive the adoption of AI-driven development workflows to accelerate feature delivery and reduce MTTR
Requirements
- Proficiency in Python, with deep technical troubleshooting skills and extensive experience building backend APIs and microservices
- Expert-level knowledge of AWS core services and the ability to architect scalable solutions from high-level requirements
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Scalr) and experience building robust CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (subnets, CIDR, VPCs) to ensure secure, global application accessibility
- Experience with big-data tools and workflow orchestrators such as Snowflake, Databricks, Airflow, or Temporal
- Ability to leverage AI tools (e.g., Gemini, ChatGPT, Cursor) to streamline engineering workflows and enhance personal productivity
- Proactive team player with excellent cross-team communication skills and a proven track record of driving complex projects to completion
Qualifications
Nice to have:
- AWS Cloud Infrastructure certification
- Experience with data privacy concerns such as HIPAA or GDPR
- Experience working with cross-functional and customer-facing teams
- Passion for Komodo’s mission and technology
- Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and the ability to push work through to completion
- Deep expertise in at least one area, with the ability to contribute quickly and share knowledge

Pay
San Francisco Bay Area and New York City: $176,000—$210,000 USD
All Other US Locations: $153,000—$190,000 USD
Schedule
Komodo Health has a hybrid work model with hubs in San Francisco, New York City, and Chicago. Roles vary—some can be performed from anywhere in the country, while others are scoped to a specific region or require proximity to a hub. Expectations will be clearly communicated before joining.
