Job Summary This client is a Fortune 100 company with more than 5,000 storefronts worldwide. The Stores Engineering team builds and supports the technology platform that powers stores, including Point of Sale systems, Windows endpoints, imaging, deployment, hardware integration, and automation at scale. This is an emerging global Engineering team focused on automation, innovation, and platform modernization. The team builds complex solutions that scale across more than 5,000 storefronts, worldwide, and creates technology that can positively impact transactions and improve store throughput. The team collaborates with engineers, business partners, and hardware vendors to deliver meaningful store platform improvements. This role requires a strong local engineering candidate who can work in the Marlborough lab, collaborate closely with hardware vendors, and help innovate on the store technology platform across key projects. Key Responsibilities Design and maintain enterprise Windows gold images, Sysprep processes, and OSD solutionsBuild automation using PowerShell and modern automation platformsSupport SCCM/MECM packaging, software distribution, and deployment workflowsAutomate driver, BIOS, firmware, operating system, and application lifecycle processesTroubleshoot complex hardware, networking, operating system, and store technology issuesWork directly with vendors on hardware validation, testing, and solution developmentManage complex technical initiatives from design through enterprise deploymentSupport Point of Sale systems, thin clients, printers, scanners, and related store technologiesParticipate in architecture discussions and contribute to long term platform strategyPromote engineering best practices across the team Required Experience 8 years of relevant engineering experience, a proven track record of working without heavy oversight, and the ability to manage complex projects from planning through deliveryExperience working directly with vendors and cross-functional engineering teams Required Skills Microsoft Active Directory and Group PolicyWindows Client and Windows Server EngineeringEnterprise gold image design, Sysprep, and image lifecycle managementOperating System Deployment, including task sequences, imaging, deployment validation, and troubleshootingSCCM/MECM packaging, software distribution, and operating system deploymentCore infrastructure knowledge including DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, switching, routing, VLANs, hubs, switches, and routersProven ability to work independently, plan the work, and drive outcomes without constant oversightPowerShell Scripting and AutomationDriver, BIOS, Firmware, and Operating System ManagementPC Hardware Architecture, Troubleshooting, and DiagnosticsSource Control Platforms such as GitHub Preferred Skills Retail experienceAnsible AutomationModern Endpoint Management PlatformsInfrastructure as CodeCI/CD Pipelines and DevOps PracticesPython AutomationRetail Point of Sale EngineeringThin Client EngineeringClient Platform Management Technologies Work Environment / Physical Requirements Local candidates only — role requires periodic presence at the Marlborough lab to collaborate with hardware vendorsLab visits may occur approximately once or twice a week; some weeks may not require lab attendance Important Notes Interview process: potentially two rounds About the Client This Fortune 500 leader in off-price apparel and home fashion operates more than 5,200 stores across ten countries, making it the world's leading company in its retail category.
