Responsibilities
- Investigate sites to identify any physical or environmental risks.
- Perform field studies including airborne chemical monitoring, noise monitoring, indoor air quality, asbestos surveys, and Phase I preliminary site assessments.
- Develop sampling strategies and outline required analysis.
- Research regulatory standards and hazard data.
- Evaluate sampling results.
- Prepare risk assessment reports and develop recommendations to correct and improve the environment.
- Present and communicate findings and report recommendations to clients.
- Develop understanding and awareness of project-related risk; be familiar with potential project risks and how to protect the company.
- Lead safety efforts for the team and ensure adherence to safety rules and guidelines.
- Create and model a safe work environment; demonstrate safety practices and promote pre-task planning for all projects.
- Monitor and promote continuous quality improvement and standards on projects.
- Ensure consistent quality standards on project and proposal delivery.
- Lead complex projects requiring innovative investigation techniques as a senior-level industrial hygiene professional.
- Supervise the analysis and formation of recommendations in written reports.
- Assist in establishing and updating current policies/procedures for technical projects to ensure proper interpretation and implementation by subordinate staff.
- Provide technical direction and training to less experienced professional staff.
- Participate in the development of marketing strategies and presentations of qualifications to clients.
- Serve as a Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or related science field.
- Minimum 8-11 years’ experience.
- Master’s degree or PhD preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history may be required.
- Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
- Ability to become a Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer (a designation authorizing resource commitment and risk mitigation on projects).
Preferred Certifications
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
- Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM).
- EPA Certified Lead-Based Paint Inspector and Risk Assessor.
