About the Role
Senior-level industrial hygiene professional responsible for leading complex projects requiring innovative investigation techniques. Supervise the analysis and formation of recommendations in written reports. Assist in establishing and updating current policies and procedures for technical projects in your field of expertise to ensure proper interpretation and implementation by subordinate staff. Provide technical direction and training to less experienced professional staff. Participate in the development of marketing strategies and presentations of qualifications to clients on projects. Serve as a Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer.
Responsibilities
- Investigate sites to identify any physical or environmental risks.
- Perform field studies including airborne chemical monitoring, noise monitoring, indoor air quality assessments, asbestos surveys, and Phase I preliminary site assessments.
- Develop sampling strategies and outline required analysis.
- Research regulatory standards and hazard data.
- Evaluate sampling results.
- Prepare risk assessment reports and develop recommendations to correct and improve the environment.
- Present and communicate findings and report recommendations to clients.
- Develop understanding and awareness of project-related risk; be familiar with potential project risks and how to protect the company.
- Lead safety efforts for the team and ensure adherence to safety rules and guidelines.
- Create and model a safe work environment; demonstrate safety practices and promote pre-task planning for all projects.
- Monitor and promote continuous quality improvement and standards on projects.
- Ensure consistent quality standards on project and proposal delivery.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or related science field.
- Minimum 8–11 years of experience.
- Master’s degree or PhD preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history may be required.
- Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
- Ability to become a Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer—a designation authorizing commitment of resources and mitigation of risk on projects.
Preferred Certifications
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
- Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM).
- EPA Certified Lead-Based Paint Inspector and Risk Assessor.
