Senior Industrial Hygienist

Responsibilities

  • Investigate sites to identify any physical or environmental risks.
  • Perform field studies including airborne chemical monitoring, noise monitoring, indoor air quality, asbestos surveys, and Phase I preliminary site assessments.
  • Develop sampling strategies and outline required analysis.
  • Research regulatory standards and hazard data.
  • Evaluate sampling results.
  • Prepare risk assessment reports and develop recommendations to correct and improve the environment.
  • Present and communicate findings and report recommendations to clients.
  • Develop understanding and awareness of project-related risk; be familiar with what could go wrong on a project and how to protect the Company.
  • Lead safety efforts for team and ensure team follows safety rules and guidelines.
  • Responsible for creating and modeling a safe work environment; demonstrate safety practices.
  • Promote pre-task planning for all projects.
  • Responsible for continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects; monitor and promote quality standards and practices.
  • Ensure consistent quality standards on project and proposal delivery.
  • Lead complex projects requiring innovative investigation techniques as a senior-level industrial hygiene professional.
  • Supervise the analysis and formation of recommendations in written reports.
  • Assist in establishing and updating current policies/procedures for technical projects in field of expertise to ensure proper interpretation and implementation by subordinate staff.
  • Provide technical direction and training to less experienced professional staff.
  • Participate in the development of marketing strategies and presentations of qualifications to clients on projects.
  • Serve as a Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or related science field.
  • Minimum 8-11 years’ experience.
  • Master’s degree or PhD preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history may be required.
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
  • Ability to become a Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer—a designation that authorizes responsibility to commit resources and mitigate risk on projects on behalf of the company.

Preferred Certifications

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
  • Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM)
  • EPA Certified Lead-Based Paint Inspector and Risk Assessor
