Senior IBM API Connect (APIC) & Datapower Developer

This role is with a leading global automotive finance and mobility services organization, supporting a large-scale enterprise integration and API modernization program focused on building secure, scalable, and highly available integration solutions. The selected candidate will collaborate with architecture, cloud, security, and application development teams to develop and support critical APIs, middleware services, and hybrid-cloud integrations for business-critical platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and support IBM API Connect (APIC) and IBM DataPower Gateway solutions in enterprise environments.
• Develop and manage REST and SOAP APIs, including security implementations using OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC), JWT, Mutual TLS (mTLS), and certificate-based authentication.
• Configure and support Multi-Protocol Gateway (MPGW), Web Service Proxy (WSP), XML Firewall, SSL/TLS, and DataPower security components.
• Integrate with AWS cloud environments, OpenShift, Kubernetes, and hybrid-cloud architectures.
• Support CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub, GitLab, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps.
• Troubleshoot production issues, conduct root cause analysis, and optimize performance.
• Implement API lifecycle management, governance, and security best practices.
• Integrate with IBM MQ and other messaging solutions.
• Work within Agile delivery environments.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with IBM API Connect (APIC) and IBM DataPower Gateway in enterprise environments.
• 8+ years of experience in software development, middleware engineering, API development, or enterprise integration solutions.
• Strong experience with REST APIs, SOAP Web Services, JSON, XML, XSLT, XPath, WSDL, and XSD.
• Experience with GatewayScript and scripting for automation.
• Experience implementing API security solutions (OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWT, mTLS, LDAP, certificate management).
• Experience with AWS services, OpenShift, Kubernetes, and hybrid-cloud integration architectures.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub, GitLab, Jenkins, Azure DevOps).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 8+ years of experience in software development, middleware technologies, or enterprise integration.
• 5+ years of experience designing, developing, and supporting IBM API Connect (APIC) and IBM DataPower solutions.
• Strong understanding of API lifecycle management, governance, and security best practices.
• Experience with IBM MQ integration and messaging solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience within Banking, Financial Services, Consumer Lending, Mortgage, or Automotive Finance industries.
• Experience integrating Salesforce, payment gateways, fraud platforms, loan origination systems, or third-party vendor solutions.
• Experience with Kafka, IBM Event Streams, or other event-driven architectures.
• Experience with IBM Cloud Pak for Integration (CP4I).
• Experience with AWS services including VPC, NLB, S3, networking, and security controls.
• Experience using monitoring and observability tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, ELK, Grafana, or Prometheus.
• Experience building APIC analytics dashboards and reporting solutions.
• Experience mentoring team members and providing technical leadership on enterprise integration initiatives.

Schedule

4 days per week onsite in South Bay, CA.

Pay

$40–67.96 per hour.
