IBM DataPower / API Connect Consultant

We are looking for an experienced IBM DataPower / API Connect Consultant to support the design, development, migration, security, and ongoing support of enterprise API platforms across on-premises and cloud environments. This is a contract position located in Reston, VA, with remote work required once a month.

Responsibilities

• Lead migration of APIs, Products, Catalogs, Developer Portals, and DataPower configurations from IBM API Connect On-Prem to APIC SaaS.
• Design, develop, test, and publish APIs using IBM API Connect and AWS API Gateway.
• Build secure and scalable hybrid cloud integrations across AWS, IBM APIC, and on-prem systems.
• Implement API governance, security standards, lifecycle management, and best practices.
• Integrate automated API testing into Jenkins/Bitbucket pipelines.
• Support production deployments, troubleshooting, incident management, and RCA.
• Monitor API performance and availability using Datadog, analytics, logging, metrics, and tracing.
• Work closely with architects, developers, project managers, and business stakeholders.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with IBM DataPower v10 & IBM API Connect v10.
• Experience with API migration, development, testing, publishing & lifecycle management.
• Strong knowledge of OpenAPI/YAML 3.0 and OAuth 2.0.
• Jenkins/CI-CD experience.
• Node.js and/or Python for API automation and scripting.
• API security using JWT, OIDC, SSO, RBAC, IAM.
• Experience with API gateways, policies, routing, mediation, and transformations.
