Senior Hydrogeologist
About the role
We are seeking a Senior Hydrogeologist to lead complex hydrogeologic investigations in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hydrogeology, experience with various geological settings, and a passion for making a positive impact on the environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead complex hydrogeologic investigations with a focus on complex geological settings such as fractured rock and coastal plain.
- Oversee data collection, processing, analysis, and interpretation, including building conceptual site models and developing high-resolution site characterization strategies.
- Develop and oversee complex groundwater remediation strategies using modern Remediation Hydrogeology concepts.
- Implement passive and/or active water treatment systems and assess flow control structures.
- Perform directional drilling into mine workings and fault zone structures.
- Interpret subsurface aquifer conditions on a site and regional scale, and develop hydrographs and other graphic presentations of hydrogeologic data.
- Assess groundwater contaminant plume dynamics and make recommendations for the management and/or remediation of contaminant plumes.
- Be viewed as a technical expert with recognized authority in an area of specialization that resolves problems of greater scope and complexity.
- Manage junior staff, provide technical review and oversight, and mentor.
- Create and present scopes of work, budgets, schedules, and proposals.
- Engage with clients and present findings.
Requirements
- Advanced degree in Geology, Geosciences, Hydrogeology, Engineering, or closely related field.
- Experience conducting hydrogeologic assessments and updating conceptual site models at active, inactive, and abandoned mine sites or projects.
- Experience implementing passive and/or active water treatment systems.
- Experience implementing and assessing flow control structures.
- 40-hour HAZWOPER, 30-hour OSHA Construction, and MSHA 40-hour Underground Miner training.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies, Hydrology, Civil Engineering, Water Resources, or closely related field.
- 10 or more years of analysis, modeling, and design and management experience.
- Project management skills a plus.
Qualifications
- Local candidates preferred.
Skills
Familiarity with design, construction, and development of groundwater monitoring wells.
Development of geologic and hydrogeologic cross-sections using geologic and geophysical data.
Geospatial and geostatistical analysis.
Interpretation of subsurface aquifer conditions on a site and regional scale.
Development of hydrographs and other graphic presentations of hydrogeologic data.
