Essential Responsibilities & Duties
- Lead large projects within technical specialty and coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams.
- Responsibilities will include structural analysis and design of hydraulic structures related to dams, flood control, hydroelectric facilities, and other water resource projects.
- Typical structures include spillways, outlet works, canals, storm drainage facilities, flood walls, and pump stations.
- Collaborate with senior project managers and technical staff across the company.
- Mentor junior staff.
- Travel to project sites and other offices as required, including overnight travel.
- Review technical reports, letters and memoranda.
- Lead, or provide oversight for preparation of design calculations, permit documents, and reports.
- Develop construction drawings, technical specifications, cost estimates and bid documents.
- Lead development of project plans, schedules and budgets.
- Lead proposals to provide professional services and support other GEI offices with proposals and the delivery of professional services.
- B.S. degree in Structural or Civil Engineering with an M.S./Ph.D degree preferred.
- 10 years of professional experience in Civil/Structural Engineering.
- Licensed as Professional Engineer in California or ability to obtain within one year of hire date.
- Strong theoretical background in earthquake/seismic engineering and finite element modeling with expertise in using standard structural engineering software (SAP2000 and LS DYNA/ANSYS).
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to work well alone and in a team atmosphere.
- Willing to travel to site locations, as-needed, including field assignments.
- Valid driver’s license.
