Qualifications
Minimum of five to ten years of related commercial grade experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Valid Vermont Operator’s License and eligibility for Jay Peak Inc’s motor vehicle insurance policy.
EPA Universal Refrigeration Certification (Section 608) and Vermont Certificate for liquefied petroleum (LP)/Propane.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Works well independently and manages assigned daily tasks, service calls, preventive maintenance duties, and follow-up work with limited supervision.
Safely installs and maintains commercial grade hydronic piping and HVAC systems.
Coordinates with contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and outside service providers for HVAC-related repairs, maintenance, inspections, installations, and project work.
Ensures work is communicated clearly, completed safely, and aligned with resort standards.
Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and repairs commercial air conditioning and multi-zone heating and cooling systems.
Identifies maintenance risks on equipment.
Diagnoses electrical and mechanical faults for HVAC systems.
Performs emergency repairs promptly and efficiently.
Provides technical direction and on-the-job training.
Assists in a preventive maintenance program that encompasses all commercial buildings at Jay Peak Resort.
Assists in researching and selecting materials for HVAC systems installation, repair, and maintenance.
Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
Implements energy savings projects.
Works with other departments to ensure HVAC systems are operating as designed.
Utilizes the resort’s digital work order, ticketing, and inventory tracking systems by phone, tablet, or computer to receive assignments, document work performed, update task status, track materials, and support accurate maintenance records.
Ensures compliance with appliance standards and Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Provides close technical guidance, hands-on training, and day-to-day support to the HVAC apprentice, helping build trade skills, safe work habits, troubleshooting ability, and familiarity with resort systems and standards.
