About the role
The Senior Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) will have responsibility for a broad range of human resources functions in support of MPC's Transport and Rail Crude and Light Products trucking fleets. The HRBP's primary role is to partner with organizational leaders to achieve their business objectives by providing guidance and input on employee relations and development issues, including restructuring business units, workforce and succession planning, employee development, performance, staffing, investigations, championing inclusion and opportunity initiatives, and administering and implementing HR policies. Successful HRBPs serve as employee champions and change agents. This position requires the ability to build and foster business partner relationships, influence, and bring about change, as well as a strong drive for results. The position is part of a family of jobs with increasing levels of responsibility, competency, and skill.
Responsibilities
- Implement HR strategies aligned with business needs through influence and change management.
- Develop and maintain strong business relationships with client groups to drive business results; serve as a key member of business unit leadership teams.
- Promote and foster inclusion and opportunity in the workplace to support a high-performing culture.
- Partner with assigned client groups in the interpretation and administration of various human resources policies and programs, including employment, compensation, benefits, and employee relations issues.
- Guide and assist employees and leaders in the interpretation and administration of HR policies, procedures, practices, and programs.
- Provide performance and leadership consulting to client organizations, including training, needs assessments, organizational development, and meeting facilitation.
- Collaborate with HR Centers of Excellence (COE) to develop strategies responding to changing needs.
- Conduct investigations to prepare and present facts leading to the resolution of employee disputes.
- Participate in negotiations with employee unions and assist in the interpretation and administration of labor contracts, including arbitration.
- Develop, lead, and assist with special projects as assigned; assimilate information and recommend company action based on findings and available funding.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Human Resources, Labor & Industrial Relations, or a related field highly preferred.
- Four or more years of related HR experience required; HR Business Partner or HR Generalist experience highly preferred.
- Prior experience in petroleum, utilities, manufacturing, or a related field is preferred.

Travel
This role requires travel of approximately 25% to 50%, with frequency dependent on the employee's base location and business requirements.
