Requirements
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in a dedicated HRBP role — ideally within a consumer, retail, or DTC brand environment.
- Proven ability to operate as a standalone HR function - comfortable owning the full employee lifecycle without a team beneath you, and resourceful enough to build from the ground up.
- Deep employee relations expertise, including conducting thorough, unbiased investigations and navigating complex, sensitive situations with discretion and sound judgment.
- Experience partnering directly with senior and executive leadership as a strategic advisor - not just an executor - on org design, talent planning, and workforce decisions.
- A track record of building and scaling people programs (performance management, manager development, engagement) in a lean, high-growth environment.
- Strong command of California employment law and HR compliance requirements; experience in a CA-headquartered or CA-majority workforce is a strong plus.
- Experience supporting both corporate and hourly/retail workforces — the ability to flex your partnership style across very different employee populations.
- A builder's mentality - you're energized by ambiguity, don't need a playbook handed to you, and take pride in creating structure where little exists.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; you earn trust quickly, handle conflict with maturity, and know when to push back on leadership.
