Senior HR Generalist
About the role
The Senior HR Generalist serves as a trusted partner to business leaders and employees across CRST, a leading transportation and logistics company. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, this role manages complex employee matters, drives performance, and ensures the organization remains consistent, compliant, and protected.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary HR point of contact for assigned business units, providing generalist support and flexing to meet team needs
- Independently manage complex employee relations matters, including investigations, corrective action, and terminations, while ensuring consistency and compliance
- Collaborate on ADA, FMLA, and other leave-related matters
- Drive completion and quality of 90-day and annual performance reviews, holding leaders accountable for the process
- Execute and provide guidance on compensation programs in alignment with applicable laws, regulations, and company policy
- Lead talent assessments, calibration sessions, and succession planning efforts to place the right people in critical roles
- Deliver training on HR practices and leadership development while continuously improving onboarding and the overall employee experience
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives within HR processes and service delivery
- Identify patterns and root causes in leadership performance and implement solutions that strengthen business unit outcomes
- Serve as a subject matter expert on CRST policy and employment law, ensuring timely and accurate case management to mitigate enterprise risk
- Travel as needed to support business needs
Requirements
Demonstrated experience independently managing complex employee relations matters, including investigations, corrective action, and terminations. Strong working knowledge of HR policies, employment law, and compliance requirements with the ability to assess risk and ensure consistent application. Proven ability to exercise independent judgment on complex issues with minimal supervision. Experience driving performance review processes and holding leaders accountable for quality, consistency, and completion. Ability to communicate effectively with leaders and employees, including explaining sensitive or complex information.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience independently managing complex employee relations matters, including investigations, corrective action, and terminations

- Ability to communicate effectively with leaders and employees, including explaining sensitive or complex information
- A four-year degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification
- Experience leading or influencing talent management, calibration, succession planning, or workforce planning initiatives
- Demonstrated ability to coach leaders, identify patterns, and implement solutions that improve leadership capability and business outcomes
- Experience identifying and leading continuous improvement initiatives within HR processes or service delivery
- Broad understanding of how HR programs integrate across multiple business units and impact organizational performance
