Senior Highway Engineer

About the role

The successful candidate will manage transportation projects, maintain relationships with existing clients, and collaborate with market leadership to attract new clients. This role involves managing projects, conducting business development activities, preparing proposals, performing technical tasks, managing project scope, schedule, and budget, and developing key client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Manages and oversees assigned projects.
• Participates in and conducts business development activities, including organizing and/or attending meetings with clients.
• Prepares and coordinates proposal efforts to secure work.
• Performs technical discipline tasks including research, reports, design, specification, and plan preparation to ensure efficient and cost-effective project execution.
• Actively manages project scope, schedule, and budget.
• Serves as the primary client liaison to ensure project completion and client satisfaction.
• Develops and enhances key client relationships and acts as a primary company contact.
• Manages and develops junior and mid-level staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering required; Master's degree a plus.
• 15+ years of transportation/Project Manager experience.
• NY PE license required.
• Additional State licenses and accreditations a plus.
• Experience on NYSDOT, NYSTA, and Local Federal Aid projects.
• Established relationships within the industry required.
• Possesses strong business development skills.
• Demonstrates strong project management qualities and excellent knowledge of project management processes.
• Experience with putting together winning proposals and delivering presentations for new work.
• An articulate and persuasive communicator, both one-on-one and in front of large groups.
• Strong oral and written communication skills and interpersonal relationships skills.
