Senior Highway Engineer

Primary Function

The successful candidate will work on a variety of transportation related design projects developing contract plans, specifications, and estimates for construction. They should have experience with the entire project design delivery process and hands-on design/engineering supervision.

Primary Duties

  • Performs process design of multi-discipline transportation engineering projects, including evaluating alternatives, conducting engineering studies and design calculations, and performing preliminary and detailed design
  • Provides technical expertise to ensure compliance with design intent, project scope, and state and federal design criteria and standards
  • Develops contract plans and prepares technical specifications and cost estimates
  • Aids with project execution and delivery including development of project scope, budget, and schedule
  • Responsible for the day-to-day activities and coordination of engineers, designers, and technicians as assigned to a specific project
  • Conducts quality control on engineering work products including design calculations, models, drawings, reports, specifications, and estimates
  • Affords assistance with marketing and business development efforts
  • Effectively communicates/coordinates with internal and external partners/stakeholders including clients, discipline leads, sub consultants, regulatory agencies, and utility companies

Education And Experience Requirements

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university or college
  • 10+ years of post-licensure engineering experience in transportation design
  • Proficient in Microstation and OpenRoads Designer with the ability to train and supervise the technical work of engineers, designers, and technicians
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
  • Experience preparing final design plans, specifications, and estimates
  • Strong verbal communication and technical writing skills
  • Strong analytical problem-solving, time management and organizational skills

About the Role

Ardurra is seeking a Senior Highway Engineer to join our team in any one of our Miami, Orlando, Tampa, Tallahassee, or West Palm Beach, Florida offices!

Responsibilities

Our Transportation team offers design capabilities ranging from complex multilevel interchanges to urban arterial reconstruction to complete streets for our clients. Our portfolio features a plethora of signature projects including the I-395 Signature Bridge reconstruction project in Downtown Miami as showcased in the Engineering News-Record!

Requirements

Each of our designs is customized, sustainable, and cost-effective for our clients covering all project types, including Design Build or Design Bid Build. Our clients have relied on our expertise in comprehensive planning, engineering design, and construction management to provide safe and efficient transportation solutions.

Qualifications

We are looking for an engineer who can demonstrate a strong understanding of traffic engineering principles, design techniques, and project management practices. This individual should be able to work independently and as part of a team, and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Skills

Our ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering, with a focus on transportation design. They should be proficient in Microstation and OpenRoads Designer, and have experience working with MS Office Suite programs. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Schedule

Our office locations are open Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required based on project needs.
