Senior Hearing Aid Specialist

About the Role

Responsible for overseeing employees and directing operations of the Hearing Center and other areas of the warehouse. Addresses personnel issues and oversees tasks performed by employees. Participates in Licensed Hearing Aid Dispenser duties. Provides high-level member service and ensures understanding, teaching, and maintenance of Costco’s culture, core values, and ethics. This is a full-time management/leadership position.

Responsibilities

• Schedules, develops, counsels, trains, and directs department personnel.
• Reviews and approves area timecards and participates in employee performance appraisals.
• Oversees apprentices as required for certification qualification and attends staff meetings.
• Oversees and participates in duties of a Licensed Hearing Aid Dispenser, including:
  • Conducting hearing evaluations and safe ear impressions.
  • Making product recommendations and taking ear impressions.
  • Ordering product, delivering, and programming hearing devices.
  • Maintaining member digital files in the office management system.
  • Ringing orders and collecting payment when necessary.
• Provides and ensures prompt, courteous member service, responding to concerns with problem-solving skills, tact, and discretion.
• Overrides and checks cash register codes, approves refunds.
• Mentors employees in the Hearing Aid Apprentice Program (HAAP), providing hands-on training aligned with the HAAP curriculum.
• Observes employee performance and paperwork to ensure compliance with department procedures and standards for scheduling, testing, fitting, record-keeping, merchandising, inventory, and cash handling.
• Implements and upholds safety and security procedures, ensuring licensing requirements are met.
• Reviews department budget and financial statements, submits insurance payment records, and develops plans for merchandising, productivity, profitability, and benchmark performance.
• Approves and submits orders for equipment, product, and supplies.
• Coordinates maintenance and repairs for machinery and equipment.
• Upholds safety and security by identifying hazards, ensuring proper PPE, and maintaining department cleanliness.
• Performs off-site marketing to increase sales, including travel by air and ground transportation, sometimes on weekends, to assist other hearing aid departments.
• Ensures proper procedures for cleaning, infection control, and disposal of hazardous materials.
• Operates vehicles, equipment, or machinery as needed.
• Assists with department duties and other warehouse departments as necessary.

Qualifications

• Ability to mentor and train employees in the Hearing Aid Apprentice Program.
• Proficiency in conducting hearing evaluations, ear impressions, and programming hearing devices.
• Knowledge of safety, infection control, and hazardous material disposal procedures.
• Experience in budget review, financial statements, and insurance payment records.
• Ability to travel as business needs require, including some weekends.
• Open availability to meet business needs (apart from religious or disability considerations).
• Authorization to work in the United States (proof required if hired).
