About the role

The Senior Hardware Development Engineer, NPD Hardware position within Amazon Web Services' Network Products Development team is dedicated to the design and development of our next generation Ethernet switching platforms for our world-class datacenters. The ideal candidate will bring strong hardware board design experience, particularly in modular chassis based enterprise/carrier products, with expertise in Ethernet networking, switch fabrics, and related technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures
  • Lead the design and development of Ethernet switching fabrics, Ethernet PHY and SerDes interfaces, embedded CPU subsystems, DDR2/DDR3/DDR4 memory design, network processors, I2C, USB
  • Design and implement high-speed PCBs and CPLD/FPGA designs using VHDL or Verilog
  • Interfacing with cross-functional teams such as mechanical engineers, HW engineers, SI engineers, diagnostic engineers, and manufacturing engineers as well as with outside vendors and developers
  • Define and implement modular chassis functions such as system redundancy, hot-swap, power distribution, environmental control, and system management
  • Experience with analog design, signal integrity analysis, DC-DC switcher design, EDVT, and MDVT is an asset

Requirements

  • BSEE with 10+ years experience in hardware board and systems development (must have taken products from concept to mass production)
  • Recent 5+ years experience with Ethernet switching fabrics, Ethernet PHY and SerDes interfaces, embedded CPU subsystems, DDR2/DDR3/DDR4 memory design, network processors, I2C, USB
  • Experience with high-speed PCB design and AC/DC PI and 5+ years of experience in CPLD/FPGA design using VHDL or Verilog
  • Experience troubleshooting with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and specialized test equipment such as PCI analyzers and in-circuit-emulators
  • Experience interfacing with cross functional teams such as mechanical engineers, HW engineers, SI engineers, diagnostic engineers, and manufacturing engineers as well as with outside vendors and developers

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent
  • Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production
  • Experience with the project management of technical projects
  • Experience defining and implementing modular chassis functions such as system redundancy, hot-swap, power distribution, environmental control and system management
  • CPLD/FPGA experience in the areas of advanced HW control/monitoring/logging
  • Experience in specifying mechanical enclosures
  • Experience in the following is an asset: analog design, signal integrity analysis, DC-DC switcher design, EDVT, and MDVT

Skills

  • Strong experience in modular chassis based enterprise/carrier products
  • Previous experience in high speed digital design as a design lead in the networking field
  • Applying skills in simulation, timing analysis, thermal analysis, and EMC

$183,000.00 - $247,600.00 USD annually
