About the role
Vanta is a company dedicated to helping businesses earn and prove trust through continuous security monitoring. We are seeking a Senior General Ledger Accountant to join our growing Accounting team. This role involves preparing and reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules across various general ledger accounts.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules across a variety of general ledger accounts, including Cash, Prepaids, Fixed Assets, Accounts Payable, Leases, Investments, Payroll, and other balance sheet and income statement accounts.
- Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, Payroll, PeopleOps, Legal, and other business stakeholders to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial information.
- Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes by analyzing financial results, investigating variances and discrepancies, and ensuring accurate financial reporting.
- Perform flux and variance analyses across key accounts, leveraging data analytics and AI-enabled tools to identify trends, anomalies, and actionable insights.
- Identify and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, and internal control enhancements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability within the accounting function.
- Support external audits, special projects, system implementations, and other accounting initiatives as needed.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in general ledger accounting or a similar role, ideally in a high-growth SaaS environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA a plus.
- A strong understanding of US GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Highly proficient in Excel and comfortable working with large datasets; experience with AI-enabled tools is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems; NetSuite preferred.
- Strong critical thinking skills with a track record of identifying discrepancies and implementing process improvements.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining proper audit-ready support for all entries.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight month-end deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills to partner with cross-functional teams.
