Join the Clean Energy Revolution as a Senior GIS Technical Specialist at Southern California Edison (SCE). In this role, you’ll be part of the Geospatial Analysis group within our Transmission & Distribution Business Unit, performing a wide variety of GIS services. You’ll collaborate with internal and external clients to assess project requirements, create high-end analytical and map products using various data types, and develop online mapping tools (e.g., ArcGIS Online, Survey123, and Field Maps). Additionally, you’ll assist with the creation and maintenance of GIS-based web services and web mapping applications, support the Incident Management Team (IMT), major capital projects, fire mitigation, and environmental analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Performs in-depth analyses, approves, develops recommendations, and creates scripts, tools, or models to enhance data flow and analysis.
  • Leads data remediation efforts, including analysis, quality control, and asset updates to ensure data accuracy and alignment with field conditions.
  • Identifies industry trends, maintains stakeholder relationships, and provides consultative services to address complex GIS problems.
  • Designs, develops, and implements procedures to improve efficiency of operations and processes associated with mapping standards and GIS tools.
  • Utilizes geospatial software to process, analyze, and model geospatial data to improve processes and data quality.
  • Collaborates with internal/external business partners to evaluate impacts on departmental activities relying on GIS data or processes.
  • Conducts land, regulatory, and related project searches, including identifying new data sources and maintaining stakeholder relationships.
  • Produces high-quality map products for presentations, meetings, public usage, and departments, including key business and ad-hoc maps.
  • Provides functional direction, guidance, and training to staff to ensure conformance to departmental standards and procedures.
  • Ensures the protection of physical, financial, and cybersecurity assets, and properly manages sensitive data with the highest standards of conduct.

Requirements

  • Five or more years of experience in GIS and/or analyzing data.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Environmental Science, or Computer Science, with an emphasis in GIS (preferred).
  • Project Management experience, including assessing project requirements and meeting deadlines (preferred).
  • Proficiency in ESRI ArcGIS 10.0 or higher, ArcPro, ArcGIS Online, Survey123, FieldMaps, WebApp Builder, and Experience Builder (preferred).
  • Specialized GIS education or certification (preferred).
  • Ability to produce technical documentation and communicate technical approaches clearly to non-technical audiences (preferred).

Schedule

This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. The work mode may change based on business needs.

Position requires up to 10-15% traveling and fieldwork throughout the SCE service territory.
