About the role

The Senior Fleet Dispatcher is responsible for the effective day-to-day coordination and management of a fleet of drivers and vehicles to ensure safe, efficient, and on-time transportation operations. You will oversee route planning, load assignments, and schedule preparation while dispatching drivers in alignment with delivery requirements, equipment availability, and Hours of Service regulations. The Senior Fleet Dispatcher serves as a key communication link between drivers, operations, and facilities, proactively resolving issues, optimizing fleet utilization, and supporting consistent service levels across the network.

Responsibilities

• Manage full dispatch operations, including planning routes, scheduling drivers, and adjusting weekly delivery plans to meet service requirements.
• Supervise company-owned fleet drivers, secure freight, and resolve transportation issues to ensure safe, efficient, and on-time deliveries.
• Coordinate pickup and delivery appointments with internal teams, customers, and external partners to ensure alignment on availability, quantities, and delivery requirements.
• Identify and evaluate delivery needs based on cost, volume, and service expectations, proactively resolving transportation disruptions as they arise.
• Perform additional duties as needed to support overall transportation operations and departmental objectives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university and 2+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Understanding of the transportation industry, rate structures, and current trends.
• Strong planning, organizational, and execution skills with the ability to work independently in a complex environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment while building strong working relationships through a respectful and approachable style.

Skills

• Associate’s Degree (preferred).
• SAP and TMS experience (a plus).

Supervisory Responsibilities

• May directly supervise fleet drivers.
• Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
• Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Pay

The expected pay range for this position is $50,000 - $70,000 annually. Individual compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, location of the position, the candidate’s qualifications and experience, internal equity, external market pay for comparable positions and budget considerations.
