Senior Fire Protection Engineer

Founded in 1975, BR+A Consulting Engineers maintains a total staff of over 500 employees located at our main office in Boston and branch offices in New York, NY; Philadelphia, PA; Vienna, VA (Washington, DC); Coral Gables, FL (Miami); Chicago, IL; St. Louis, MO; Tampa, FL; Charlotte, NC; Charleston, SC; Houston, TX; New Haven, CT; Los Angeles, CA; and Toronto. BR+A provides state-of-the-art integrated and coordinated mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection consulting engineering, technology systems design, lighting design, and building commissioning services. BR+A is seeking an experienced Senior Fire Protection Engineer in our Boston office. The ideal candidate will have 10‑20 years of experience, an engineering degree, and be a registered professional engineer.
Responsibilities
- Experience designing fire protection systems for healthcare, higher education, and laboratory projects
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit
- Experience in specification writing
- Perform field verification and take‑offs of existing systems for renovation projects
- Coordinate with other disciplines
- Develop hydraulic calculations for sprinklers and standpipes using computer programs
- Thorough knowledge of NFPA codes
- Basic knowledge of fire protection systems including wet, dry, and specialty systems
- Understands work planning and manages the design process to the available hours in the work plan
- Meets with clients and works with contractors
- Oversees deliverables to and from clients
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Strongly motivated, well organized, shows professional initiative
- Takes ownership of assignments, works both independently and as part of the project team
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- PE License
- 10‑20 years of related experience

Pay
Salary range for 10‑20 years of experience: $120,000 – $180,000.
