Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree (foreign equivalent or higher)
- Two (2) years of full-time Financial Aid/Accounts experience
- Microsoft and/or Google proficiency
- (Preferred) Master's Degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Higher Education Administration or related field
- (Preferred) Admissions, Financial Aid, and/or Student Accounts Experience
- (Preferred) Experience providing one-on-one advising to students
- (Preferred) Familiarity with PeopleSoft and/or other data management systems
Brief Description Of Duties
- Assistance with financial aid applications and billing/payment
- Determine eligibility for federal, state, private, and Stony Brook University financial aid resources
- Partner with the AAMC/FIRST program to conduct FA information sessions and required financial aid entrance and exit counseling sessions
- Conduct required Financial Planning sessions as part of Transition to Residency course for graduating students
- Calculate annual cost of attendance (educate and living expenses) for RSOM MD (medical) students in the traditional 4- year track and the 3YMD track
- Determine federal, state, and private financial aid eligibility based on federal needs analysis methodology
- Award federal loans and institutional grants to eligible medical students
- Draft medical students Financial Aid Application; communicate application process and information required to be awarded federal, state, and institutional aid
- Partner with SBU Office of Financial Aid to assure accurate posting, processing and disbursement of loans, grants, and scholarships for medical students
- Communicate federal regulatory updates to medical students
- Monitor Satisfactory Academic Progress of medical students at risk of financial aid ineligibility
- Meet with Medical students for financial and personal counseling
- Meet with RSOM Alumni Board members to review applications for RSOM endowed scholarships
- Complete Annual LCME 1-B Financial Aid Report for AAMC Education
- Conduct financial and debt management presentations/counseling to all medical/dental students during Transition to Medical and Dental School; Transition to Clinical Care and Transition to Residency courses
- Present to RSOM Applicants on Interview Days
- Present to RSOM Accepted Student Days and Pre-Orientation
- Conduct Medical School Financial Aid Presentations at RSOM Pre-Health fairs
- Liaison And Reporting
- Serve as Alpha Omega Alpha administrator for RSOM; coordinating all aspects of nomination and banquet
- Provide Administrative Support to Office of Admissions, RSOM
- Other duties as assigned

- Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding.
- FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.
- Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
