About the role
The Senior Finance Analyst conducts a range of line-of-business (LOB) related financial analysis and/or provides finance support for a Business Partner Finance area. This role requires in-depth knowledge and expertise in a specialized domain, along with a working understanding of broader related areas. The position involves researching and investigating financial accounting, audit, operational, and reporting issues, often requiring advanced technical or finance knowledge. The role may coordinate or integrate work with other areas and supports medium- to long-term initiatives.
Key responsibilities include performing advanced financial analysis, integrating organizational context into solutions, understanding industry and competitive factors, and implementing process improvements. The Senior Finance Analyst acts as a subject matter expert, contributes to setting standards, and solves complex problems involving multiple variables and stakeholders. The role impacts functional programs across teams and informs decision-making at senior levels by interpreting guidelines, policies, and analysis results.
Responsibilities
- Conduct regular analysis, evaluation, and review of business performance and initiatives against established benchmarks (e.g., plan, prior year, business cases).
- Provide advice and guidance to Finance Management, business partners, and stakeholders on finance accounting, reporting, or operational processes.
- Apply understanding of business strategies to produce relevant data analysis and materials supporting business goals and objectives.
- Develop dashboards to illustrate business trends and identify opportunities.
- Coordinate and consolidate financial information requests among business Finance Teams, stakeholders, external parties, regulators, and auditors.
- Act as a key resource by providing financial information, data, and guidance on specialized procedures (e.g., tax, accounting principles, reconciliation, reporting, financial controls).
- Identify variances and contribute to the analysis, due diligence, and execution of initiatives, acquisitions, or business restructures.
- Collaborate with FinOps or Specialized Finance teams to enhance operational activities (e.g., report production, system queries, process mapping, specialized tracking, analysis, and transactional support).
- Adhere to enterprise frameworks and ensure programs, policies, and practices meet business needs and comply with internal and external requirements.
- Investigate data and analytics-related issues, ensuring compliance with financial controls, segregation of duties, and transaction approvals.
- Conduct internal and external research projects and support the development of presentations and communications for management or broader audiences.
- Perform meaningful analysis at the functional or enterprise level, using results to draw conclusions, make recommendations, and assess program effectiveness.
- Monitor service, productivity, and efficiency within the function, implementing continuous improvements where opportunities exist.
- Support the execution of remediation plans to address performance, risk, or governance issues.
- Manage relationships within and across business lines, corporate functions, and control functions to ensure alignment with enterprise and regulatory requirements.
- Stay abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements.
- Maintain a culture of risk-based management and control, aligned with risk appetite.
- Participate fully as a team member, supporting a positive work environment that promotes service, quality, innovation, and teamwork.
- Provide thought leadership and industry knowledge for your area of expertise and participate in knowledge transfer within the team and business unit.

Requirements
- Undergraduate degree.
- 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Accounting designation preferred.
Skills
- Month-end close experience.
- Financial reporting and management reporting.
- General ledger reconciliation experience.
- Financial systems expertise (Planning Analytics, Essbase, TM1, data warehouses, reporting tools).
- Data validation and troubleshooting.
- Process improvement and automation mindset.
- Stakeholder management with Finance, FP&A, Technology, and Lines of Business.
- Ability to investigate data lineage and source-system issues.
- SQL experience.
Pay
$72,280 - $108,160 USD per year. TD is committed to providing fair and equitable compensation opportunities. The base pay offered may vary based on skills, experience, job-related knowledge, geographic location, and other business and organizational needs.
Schedule
