Senior Field Technician - Construction Materials Testing

Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions, is seeking Senior Field Technicians to join the Professional Services Industries, Inc. (Intertek-PSI) team in Chesapeake, VA. This role offers a versatile career in the architectural, engineering, and construction (A/E/C) industry within a leading U.S.-based provider of construction assurance, testing, and inspection services.

Responsibilities

• Operate testing equipment and conduct testing (e.g., soil, concrete) and provide assessment of data through reporting
• Read and interpret plans, specifications, and diagrams
• Maintain and calibrate standard equipment
• Perform complex assignments using specific methods and make detailed observations of site activities with limited interpretation of results
• Maintain detailed documentation and data from test results
• Attend project meetings and communicate effectively with clients and project teams

Requirements

• 5+ years of related materials testing experience
• At least one of the following certifications required:
  • ACI Field
  • ATTI Field
  • ICC Reinforced Concrete
  • ICC Soils Special Inspector
  • ACI Special Inspector
• Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record
• Ability to work off-shift and overtime as needed
• Ability to lift, move, push, and pull 30 to 50 pounds frequently; occasionally over 50 pounds with assistance
• Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and make sound discriminations
• Ability to kneel and squat occasionally
• Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
• Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions, including hot and cold temperatures
• Ability to climb occasionally and work at various heights
• Ability to work overnight hours and off-shift

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Other industry-specific certifications
