Senior Field Technician - Construction Materials Testing
About the role
The Senior Field Technician is responsible for performing a variety of testing, project-specific observations, and site assessment duties under general supervision and/or from detailed controlled procedures. This role operates within Intertek's Building and Construction division, which is a suite of Intertek brands that are industry leaders across multiple architecture, engineering, and construction disciplines.
Responsibilities
- Operate testing equipment and conduct testing (example: Soil, concrete or other)
- Provide assessment of data through reporting
- Read and interpret plans, specifications, and diagrams
- Maintain and calibrate standard equipment
- Perform complex assignments; use specific methods and perform tasks to make detailed observations of site activities and give limited interpretation of results
- Maintain detailed documentation and data from test results
- Attend project meetings and communicate effectively with client and project teams
Requirements
- 5+ years’ of related materials testing experience required
- At least one of the following certifications is required: ACI Field, ATTI Field, ICC Reinforced Concrete, and ICC Soils Special Inspector OR ACI Special Inspector
- Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record
- Able to work off shift and overtime as needed
- Able to lift, move, push and pull 30 to 50 pounds frequently; Occasionally, over 50 pounds with assistance
- Able to receive detailed information through oral communication, (hearing) and to make the discriminations in sound
- Able to kneel and squat occasionally
- Able to walk and stand for long periods of time
- Able to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions, including hot and cold temperatures
- Able to climb occasionally, and work at various heights
- Able to work over night hours and off shift
