About the role

Minuteman Security Solutions, LLC is an electronic security systems integrator supporting U.S. government and defense organizations. We design, install, and sustain the access control, intrusion detection, and video systems that protect people, facilities, and critical assets. Our technicians are trusted to solve problems thoroughly, document work accurately, and represent the company professionally on active client sites.

As Senior Field Service Technician, you will be the primary on-site technical lead for sustaining enterprise electronic security systems, with an emphasis on Lenel OnGuard, at federal and DoD facilities across the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Your primary responsibility is restoring and maintaining system availability through advanced diagnostics, preventive maintenance, configuration validation, and complete service documentation. You will own complex issues from diagnosis through resolution, coordinate work with project managers, engineers, client representatives, and government stakeholders, and guide junior technicians. To support our customers’ needs, occasional extended travel outside of the DMV area may be required, to include both CONUS and OCONUS locations. When needed, you will be notified well in advance of the required travel date and provided sufficient time to plan and prepare accordingly.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and service support for Lenel OnGuard access control systems and associated electronic security subsystems.
  • Install, configure, commission, test, and troubleshoot access control, intrusion detection, and CCTV/video surveillance systems, including Software House C-CURE and DAQ platforms where assigned.
  • Diagnose controllers, field panels, PIV/CAC and HID readers, door hardware interfaces, power supplies, backup batteries, cameras, network connectivity, and related field devices.
  • Conduct software-level health checks, configuration validation, alarm and event analysis, database-connectivity troubleshooting, and coordinated upgrades, patches, and firmware updates.
  • Read and interpret system drawings, wiring diagrams, blueprints, schematics, and network layouts to identify issues and complete work correctly the first time.
  • Maintain complete, inspection-ready documentation: service reports, maintenance logs, deficiency reports, as-built updates, configuration records, test results, and lifecycle-sustainment records.
  • Coordinate site visits, maintenance windows, outages, upgrades, and commissioning with project managers, engineering teams, client representatives, and government stakeholders.
  • Serve as technical lead on site: mentor junior technicians, support end-user training, uphold safe work practices, and model the standard for quality and accountability.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience maintaining, servicing, installing, or troubleshooting electronic security systems in enterprise, government, or other mission-critical environments.
  • Current Lenel OnGuard Advanced Access Certification and demonstrated experience installing, configuring, programming, and troubleshooting Lenel OnGuard systems are required to support current customer needs.
  • Working knowledge of access control architecture, low-voltage systems, structured cabling, intrusion detection, IP and analog video, and networked security devices.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot device hardware, controller communications, field panels, reader technologies, power systems, network connectivity, and software configuration issues.
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, PoE, switches, and common diagnostic and test equipment.
  • Clear, professional communication skills; ability to work independently, prioritize multiple service requests, and explain technical findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • High school diploma or equivalent. Technical training, associate degree, or relevant manufacturer certifications preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to travel to client sites throughout the DMV, with occasional extended travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, work on ladders or lifts, and perform field work in indoor, outdoor, and secure environments.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain at minimum U.S. Government Secret-level clearance, plus meet applicable contract and site-access requirements.
