Senior Facilities Technician
About the role
This Senior Technician demonstrates commitment to excellence as they ensure that the buildings and equipment on the BCBSMS campus operate safely at the highest level of efficiency. From complex issues to basic fixes, this hands-on position has field-tested project management experience with the ability to oversee routine maintenance to after-hours emergency response needs.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine facilities maintenance and minor fixes, from changing lightbulbs and rerouting network/power cables to painting and light carpentry repairs.
- Assist with relocation of employee workstations, disassembling and reassembling furniture, moving computers, filing cabinets and other furniture.
- Work in partnership with approved vendors to ensure equipment is properly maintained, routinely assessed and risk is mitigated for foreseeable issues.
- Develop and maintain continual and emergency practices for low voltage electrical equipment and systems, including the installation of fiber and copper network infrastructure and preventative maintenance schedules.
Requirements
- 8 or more years of combined maintenance and low voltage electrical experience.
- Valid Mississippi driver’s license with good driving record.
- Ability to work with hands and lift/carry 40 pounds.
- Ability to read, interpret and follow instructions.
- Available to be on-call 24 hours per day, seven days a week with flexibility to work varying shifts on holidays and weekends as required.
- Basic computer literacy, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Able to clearly share information, exchange ideas and understand others’ messaging.
- Able to listen with full engagement, asking questions and providing clear instruction.
