Senior Facilities Engineer
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Facilities Engineer to support the maintenance and daily operations of a commercial office complex. This hands-on role is responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance on building systems, responding to service requests, coordinating with vendors, and ensuring a safe, efficient, and well-maintained environment for tenants and employees.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on commercial building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical equipment.
- Maintain HVAC systems by replacing filters and belts, troubleshooting equipment, and supporting Building Automation Systems (BAS) and pneumatic controls.
- Inspect, repair, and maintain automatic doors, key lock systems, lighting, and other building components.
- Perform plumbing repairs, including toilets, sinks, faucets, and related fixtures.
- Replace light bulbs, ballasts, and other lighting components throughout the facility.
- Respond promptly to maintenance work orders and tenant service requests while providing excellent customer service.
- Carry out routine inspections of building systems to identify maintenance needs and ensure equipment reliability.
- Coordinate with outside contractors and vendors for specialized repairs and preventative maintenance services.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete work orders using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), when applicable.
- Support emergency response efforts and participate in an on-call rotation as needed.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and building operating procedures.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of commercial facilities maintenance experience.
- Experience supporting commercial office complexes or multi-tenant commercial buildings.
- Strong working knowledge of:
- HVAC systems (filters, belts, BAS, pneumatic controls)
- Electrical and lighting maintenance
- Plumbing systems (toilets, sinks, faucets)
- Automatic door systems
- Key lock and access hardware
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair a variety of commercial building systems.
- Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- EPA Universal Certification or HVAC certification preferred.
- Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS).
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification is a plus.
- Experience using a CMMS/work order management system.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Pay
Salary: USD85,000 - USD95,000 per year. Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law in geographies that require salary range disclosure, Vaco/Highspring notes the salary range for the role is noted in this job posting. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and can participate in medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the company’s 401(k) retirement plan.
