About the Role
The Electrical Operations Engineer supports the full lifecycle of critical electrical systems across Micron manufacturing facilities. This unique career opportunity begins with a structured assignment supporting Construction Engineering through design review, constructability validation, and commissioning. Following construction support, the position transitions into operations ownership, ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant performance of electrical distribution and control systems.
Responsibilities
- Review electrical design documents, support design coordination activities, and assess constructability and compliance with applicable codes and standards.
- Participate in submittal reviews, RFIs, system inspections, and commissioning activities to verify installation quality and system functionality.
- Perform and interpret electrical calculations including load flow, fault current, and arc flash studies using industry-standard tools.
- Transition into system ownership post-construction, managing electrical distribution equipment, motor control systems, UPS systems, generators, and backup power infrastructure.
- Conduct root-cause analyses for electrical events, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain documentation accuracy using engineering tools and support training for maintenance and operations personnel.
- Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE standards, and Micron safety requirements across all operational activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 12+ years of electrical engineering experience supporting design, construction, or operations.
- Knowledge of power distribution systems, MCCs, VFDs, and emergency/backup systems.
- Familiarity with NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE standards, and NETA testing practices.
- Proficiency in electrical modeling tools (e.g., ETAP, SKM) and BIM platforms (e.g., Revit, Navisworks).
Qualifications
- Experience in high-reliability or mission-critical facilities (e.g., semiconductor, pharmaceutical, data centers).
- Exposure to electrical system cybersecurity frameworks such as IEC 62443.
- Understanding of IoT, smart-grid technologies, or Industry 4.0 electrical applications.
- Experience leading or mentoring operations or maintenance personnel.
