Senior Facilities and Space Planner
Job Responsibilities
- Performs professional work related to a variety of planning assignments, including space and site planning, programming and feasibility analysis on the St. Jude campus as required.
- Makes recommendations to integrate into the campus master plan and strategic plan.
- Develops and contributes to complex planning studies and programing for short-, mid- and long-term planning for space, site, facilities, transportation, capital projects, landscape, and infrastructure projects.
- Plans and develops short- and long-range programs and engages with the leaders to foster program success.
- Collates and applies data for planning related to long-term campus changes.
- Aids in the development, updates and compliance with campus and space planning principles and policies.
- Prepares proposals for and works with outside planning, design, engineering and construction firms for projects as necessary.
- Conducts research on project needs and prepares reports on physical land use, facilities and space use, transportation plans, studies and analysis.
- Responds to various requests for reports and documentation concerning the functional use of space to assist St. Jude Leadership to strategize, plan, and implement major facilities-related programs and projects.
- Knowledge of State, Federal and local codes pertaining to design and construction and ability to provide technical advice based on sound understanding of construction principles and practice.
- Facilities space information management with broad knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, GIS (Geographic Information Systems), CAFM (Computer Aided Facility Management), with an emphasis on floorplans, space data management, analysis, and reporting.
- FMSystems experience is also preferred.
- Supports the strategic efforts through delivering detailed analysis for productivity and efficiency for projects as well as long-term estimates.
- Supports and leads some project management initiatives and ensure effective transition of space planning efforts to project implementation, supporting a successful project workflow.
- Provides development of detailed conceptual planning, programming and project transition (transition from planning to projects).
- Provides electronic plans to in-house personnel, and outside contractors engaged in the planning, design, and/or execution of new construction or renovation.
- Assists in periodic verification of space (i.e., walk all interior space) to keep the data in FM Systems and other systems accurate and up to date.
- Supports the VP of Facility Planning & Analytics with space allocation information, floorplans, and other products, and provides recommendations on space allocation matters.
- Reports discrepancies in the audited spaces to the VP of Facility Planning.
- Ability to comply with St. Jude’s policies and procedures.
- Participates in supporting complex scheduling planning projects, monitors work in progress and completes all documentation related to these efforts utilizing assigned technology, tools, process and templates.
- Performs other duties as assigned to support St. Jude’s mission.
Minimum Education and/or Training
Bachelor’s degree in architecture or other related area and / or equivalent experience / training with 5-7 years of relevant, progressively responsible experience.
Minimum Experience
Knowledge of and ability to apply expertise in facilities management practices and space management policies, standards and procedures of a large, complex-related business or organization, preferably in research laboratories and healthcare, including applicable internal policies and procedures and pertinent laws and regulations.
Substantial and broad knowledge of public and private entities including their organizational and operating structures, internal systems, and functional areas, as well as the impact of critical external entities on an organization.
Experience with managing processes and procedures.
Ability to interpret and integrate complex data and information to formulate appropriate courses of action that would have broad and far-reaching impact.
Ability to understand and analyze complex problems from a future-oriented and broad interactive perspective and readily develop proactive solutions that integrate strategic goals into tactical operations.
Familiarity with current technical environmental impact assessment methodologies (e.g., historic resources, transportation, air quality).
Thorough working knowledge of land use, site and master planning principles.
Special Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Experience with Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
Experience with graphics programs (CAD, REVIT, FMSystems, GIS).

This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
