Senior Estimator - Heavy Civil Construction

About the role

A leading infrastructure contractor is seeking a Senior Estimator to take ownership of complex bids across heavy civil and utility projects. This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse work including civil infrastructure, underground utilities, roadway and bridge work, and specialized construction projects. You'll play a key role in shaping projects from the preconstruction phase, developing accurate estimates, assessing risk, and supporting strategic bid decisions.

Responsibilities

• Lead estimates from initial review through final submission
• Analyze drawings, specifications, and contract documents
• Perform and oversee quantity take-offs
• Develop detailed cost estimates including labor, equipment, and materials
• Solicit and level subcontractor and supplier pricing
• Identify risks, constructability issues, and cost drivers
• Develop means and methods aligned with project conditions
• Present estimates to leadership and support bid strategy

Qualifications

• 6-10+ years of estimating experience in heavy civil or infrastructure projects
• Strong understanding of construction means, methods, and sequencing
• Prior field experience is highly valued
• Ability to build complete, accurate estimates for complex work

Skills

• Proficiency with takeoff and estimating tools (e.g., Bluebeam, AGTEK, or similar)
• Familiarity with scheduling tools (Primavera, MS Project, or similar) preferred
• Advanced Excel and strong overall computer skills
• You understand how projects are actually built - not just how they're priced
• You take ownership of your work and stand behind your numbers
• You balance accuracy, competitiveness, and risk
• You communicate clearly and work well with both field and leadership teams

Pay

Base Salary: $140,000 - $200,000; Performance-based bonus.
