Key Responsibilities
- Identify and evaluate project opportunities and participate in the pursuit process.
- Review drawings, specifications, proposals, and contract documents to prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work.
- Coordinate and manage the bid process, including obtaining and evaluating subcontractor and supplier pricing.
- Develop pricing for change orders and proposal revisions as needed.
- Attend preconstruction and scope review meetings with clients, vendors, and project stakeholders.
- Collaborate with operations teams to support project planning and startup activities.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior estimating staff.
- Track and analyze historical project data to improve estimating accuracy and identify trends.
- Assist in developing project schedules, scopes of work, and procurement strategies.
- Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and industry partners.
- Stay current on industry trends, construction methods, roofing systems, and emerging technologies that improve efficiency and competitiveness.
- Identify opportunities to streamline estimating processes and improve productivity through technology and innovation.
Qualifications
- Significant experience estimating commercial roofing projects.
- Proven ability to manage estimates for mid- to large-scale construction projects.
- Experience with negotiated, design-build, and competitively bid work preferred.
- Proficiency with common estimating, takeoff, and project management software platforms.
- Strong understanding of construction documents, specifications, and contract language.
- Experience soliciting and evaluating subcontractor and supplier proposals.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize competing deadlines and manage multiple estimates simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
- Experience working on public-sector projects.
- Familiarity with BIM, Lean Construction principles, and collaborative project delivery methods.
- Previous experience mentoring or supervising junior team members.
- Knowledge of project controls, scheduling concepts, and procurement processes.
Additional Requirements
- Valid driver's license required.
- Ability to successfully complete pre-employment screening requirements.
- OSHA certification, or willingness to obtain certification, preferred.
