Senior Estimator – Commercial Roofing

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and evaluate project opportunities and participate in the pursuit process.
  • Review drawings, specifications, proposals, and contract documents to prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work.
  • Coordinate and manage the bid process, including obtaining and evaluating subcontractor and supplier pricing.
  • Develop pricing for change orders and proposal revisions as needed.
  • Attend preconstruction and scope review meetings with clients, vendors, and project stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with operations teams to support project planning and startup activities.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior estimating staff.
  • Track and analyze historical project data to improve estimating accuracy and identify trends.
  • Assist in developing project schedules, scopes of work, and procurement strategies.
  • Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and industry partners.
  • Stay current on industry trends, construction methods, roofing systems, and emerging technologies that improve efficiency and competitiveness.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline estimating processes and improve productivity through technology and innovation.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience estimating commercial roofing projects.
  • Proven ability to manage estimates for mid- to large-scale construction projects.
  • Experience with negotiated, design-build, and competitively bid work preferred.
  • Proficiency with common estimating, takeoff, and project management software platforms.
  • Strong understanding of construction documents, specifications, and contract language.
  • Experience soliciting and evaluating subcontractor and supplier proposals.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize competing deadlines and manage multiple estimates simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience working on public-sector projects.
  • Familiarity with BIM, Lean Construction principles, and collaborative project delivery methods.
  • Previous experience mentoring or supervising junior team members.
  • Knowledge of project controls, scheduling concepts, and procurement processes.

Additional Requirements

  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to successfully complete pre-employment screening requirements.
  • OSHA certification, or willingness to obtain certification, preferred.
