About the Role
As a Senior Equipment Engineer, you will bring hands-on expertise to develop new equipment, improve current equipment designs and documentation, manage equipment projects, and perform root cause analysis of non-conforming equipment. This role contributes to company projects by developing new or modified fixtures, supporting the Production line through fixture improvements, troubleshooting, and NCMRs, leading internal equipment improvement initiatives, and collaborating with suppliers to develop complex fixtures.
An ideal candidate will have the ability to design and develop complex fixtures, drive projects to closure, collaborate cross-functionally, and handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
Responsibilities
- Equipment Design: Apply mechanical design experience (ideally in manufacturing) to develop new equipment and upgrade current equipment, focusing on ergonomics, reliability, and Production scale.
- Equipment Documentation and Processes: Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of equipment documentation and processes. Revise documentation to improve repeatability and robustness, and update equipment control systems for revised or implemented equipment.
- Test Equipment: Provide test equipment solutions prioritizing throughput, ergonomics, and repeatability. Develop or collaborate with vendors to create automated testing solutions. Prove repeatability by authoring Gauge R&R protocols, executing them, and analyzing data to produce clear reports.
- Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Assess unusual circumstances using sophisticated analytical techniques to identify root causes and apply advanced problem-solving methodologies.
- Creativity and Innovation: Resolve a wide range of issues creatively, suggesting alternative approaches when necessary.
- Non-Conforming Equipment: Support the Production line by determining root causes of equipment non-conformances.
- Problem-Solving: Work on diverse problems where analysis requires evaluating identifiable factors, resolving technical issues during design and testing phases.
- Risk Management: Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards in equipment and automation designs, implementing measures to mitigate risks.
- Collaboration: Work closely with R&D, manufacturing, electrical, and software engineers to integrate components and ensure compatibility.
- Mentorship: Mentor junior engineers, helping them develop skills and supporting their projects.
- Training and Support: Provide training and technical support to manufacturing personnel or end-users to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment.
- Project Management: Manage equipment or automation design projects, including setting timelines, allocating resources, and tracking progress.
- Compliance and Training: Maintain trained status and comply with PROCEPT BioRobotics’ Quality Management System to ensure regulatory compliance. Adhere to Quality and EHS policies. Support manufacturing personnel through training and troubleshooting.
