About the role

The Air Quality Program (AQP) is seeking a Senior Environmental Planner, Cap-and-Invest Program and Emissions-Intensive Trade-Exposed Industries (Environmental Planner 5) (In-Training) position. This role will be based at the Headquarters Building in Lacey, WA. Upon hire, you must reside within a commutable distance from the duty station.

Responsibilities

As the agency's lead expert in emissions-intensive and trade-exposed industries (EITEs) as part of the State's Cap-and-Invest program, you will:

  • Coordinate the design and development of key policies and guidance on EITEs and the auction and market program.
  • Further policy and statutory objectives and ensure a successful program.

Requirements

This is a project position funded until June, 2027 with a high probability of renewal. The position offers a career path and on-the-job training, allowing candidates to progress through the Environmental Planner field and achieve the goal class of an Environmental Planner 5. Salary levels are contingent on qualifications as detailed in the qualifications section.

Qualifications

To qualify, applicants should have:

  • A bachelor's degree in environmental science, public policy, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in environmental planning, policy analysis, or a related field.
  • Experience with emissions-intensive and trade-exposed industries.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.

Pay

$75,120.00 - $98,592.00 Annually
