Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and ensure adherence to health and safety standards, policies, and practices including but not limited to; safety management systems, training, risk assessments, industrial hygiene, and regulatory compliance.
- Lead and oversee health and safety audits across operational data centers and construction sites to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
- Ensure enterprise-wide compliance with safety programs that exceed regulatory requirements.
- Develop and review comprehensive health and safety plans for emergencies, business continuity, and unique operational events.
- Oversee safety record keeping and ensure data integrity across all sites.
- Analyze safety data trends and present findings to executive leadership to inform strategic decisions.
- Serve as a key advisor to the VDC compliance team, providing expert interpretations and guidance.
- Identify systemic risks and lead cross-functional teams to implement sustainable controls.
- Engage with customers and stakeholders to deliver high-level health and safety guidance.
- Be accountable for EHS performance metrics and implementation of annual improvement plans.
- Periodically inspect, audit, and review safe work practices to ensure compliance with regulations and company policies.
- Conduct workplace risk/exposure assessments for various classes of hazards.
- Supporting incident investigations and root cause analysis, so that corrective and preventive actions can be identified, communicated globally, and implemented.
- Conducting/delivering regulatory training programs to meet EHS requirements.
- Monitor, interpret and communicate summaries of standards and regulatory requirements to assure compliance and proactive management of risk.
- Analyses safety metrics and communicates results to leadership to drive action and accountability.
- Drive a standardized and harmonized approach across the Vantage European portfolio to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
- Present topical information/metrics on a regular basis to site leadership teams as well as EHS Director.
Requirements
- Degree in Environmental, Health and Safety or a related degree in science/engineering discipline with coursework in risk management or safety is preferred, but not required, depending on experience.
- Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) certification preferred (OHST, CHST, ASP, or CSP).
- A minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in EHS is required, with demonstrated knowledge and experience controlling the broad spectrum of risks across multiple sites.
- Must have current working knowledge of OSHA regulations and standards and other non-regulatory safety standards applicable to the location.
- Familiarity with consensus standards such as those published by ANSI and NFPA.
- Effective ability to operate beyond a compliance-based health and safety management approach in order to collaborate with all stakeholders to find solutions that support the business while identifying and controlling risk.
- Travel required is expected to be up to 50% but may increase over time as the business evolves.
