Senior Engineering Specialist - Drafting

The Engineering Operations team is seeking qualified candidates for a Senior Engineering Specialist - Drafting position. About the Role
The Senior Engineering Specialist - Drafting develops solutions to a wide range of complex technical problems requiring extensive knowledge of the subject and familiarity with related disciplines. Leads in the preparation of or prepares distribution engineering plans, designs, specifications, standards, evaluations, material entries, or studies. Exercises considerable latitude in determining the technical objectives of an assignment. Supports emergency response operations when needed.

Responsibilities
- Performs the most complex and non-standard project work in support of department needs using applications and tools specific to the job assignment and discipline.
- Prepares and directs others in the preparation of engineering plans in AutoCAD and AUD, designs, specifications, and standards.
- Develops and prepares engineering studies to identify specific program objectives and establish investment levels.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of industry codes and regulations; leads the team in maintaining compliance and directs necessary research.
- Interacts and coordinates directly with internal and external customers to understand project requirements.
- Performs or manages project documentation including tasks, calculations, and reporting.
- Conducts complex office and field research, measurement and verification of equipment data, and creates and updates equipment records.
- Leads, directs, and performs drafting standards and reviews as-built drawings when necessary; ensures compliance with codes, standards, and design, operation, and maintenance requirements.
- Interprets and/or modifies available guidelines for application to existing problems or processes.
- Coordinates the work of others who assist in specific assignments (including contractors/consultants).
- Drives improvements and maintains department standards, processes, templates, tools, and databases.
- May function in a technical leadership role as part of a project team.
- Effectively communicates complex technical information, both written and verbal, to team members, internal and external customers.
- Checks and reviews complex project work of others; provides technical leadership, training, and mentorship to other personnel.
- Ensures that problem solutions are tailored to PSE’s business environment.
- Supports emergency response work as requested, including immediate and extended restoration efforts driven by weather and other system failures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Two-year technical degree or equivalent technical certificate in design or pre-engineering and 3-5 years of relevant experience, or 8+ years of relevant experience.
- Extensive knowledge of subject matter within assigned area of focus, and basic knowledge of related disciplines.
- Organization, documentation, prioritization, and project management skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Expert proficiency with PC and design software, and other database applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in design in AutoCAD and AUD, preparation of specifications, technical field work, or system studies.
- Experience in project cost estimating or scheduling.
- Knowledge of large-scale distribution engineering economics and analysis.

Pay
The pay range for this position is $82,000.00 - $136,300.00.
