Senior Design Drafter
About the role
Design Drafter position within Zeeco’s Vapor Control group, focusing on skidded equipment packages. The role involves using Autodesk Plant 3D, Autodesk Inventor, and AutoCAD Mechanical to create Piping Specs, Smart P&IDs, Smart 3D Models linked to Bill of Materials, and fabrication drawings from base files and assemblies. Previous experience with plant packaged equipment or similar is required; Plant 3D experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Analyze project mechanical specifications/requirements to design appropriate equipment for the application.
- Assist the engineering team with confirmation of equipment selection and design.
- Prepare drawings of parts, assemblies, and products, including various views, sectional profiles, irregular or reverse views, hidden lines, and intricate details.
- Utilize Computer Assisted Drafting (CAD) systems to complete assignments in both 2D and 3D.
- Perform arithmetic computations using standard formulas.
- Follow methods, procedures, and verbal instructions from project engineers and supervisors.
- Make revisions to existing drawings as assigned.
- Ensure all required drawings are completed and meet project requirements.
- Review customer mark-up prints and disposition comments.
- Conduct shop/site visits and travel to assist with design changes and provide production guidelines.
- Use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Adobe, and web-based systems for design completion.
- Check own and other Drafter/Designer’s drawings for accuracy.
Requirements
- Associate’s Degree in Drafting or equivalent combination of experience and certification.
- 10+ years of drafting/design experience using AutoCAD, Autodesk Plant 3D, Autodesk Inventor, and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC/BIM 360).
- Ability to model piping and structural steel in a 3D environment.
- Experience creating and maintaining specification catalogs and piping specs.
- Experience creating piping isometrics and steel fabrication drawings.
- Experience reviewing vendor drawings and interface points.
- Knowledge of and ability to read and create P&IDs and PFDs.
- Familiarity with ASME B31.1 and B31.3 Code for Pressure Piping.
- Piping and structural steel background is a plus.
- Ability to handle fast-paced projects, multitask, and switch tasks rapidly as needed.
