Senior Engineer - Power Systems / P&C / Substation
Core Responsibilities
- Lead engineering design and analysis for transmission, distribution, and substation projects.
- Perform power system studies including short-circuit, coordination, arc flash, and load flow analyses.
- Develop and review Protection & Control (P&C) designs, relay logic, trip schemes, and relay settings.
- Work on substation engineering including equipment specifications, one-lines, three-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, and grounding design.
- Configure and integrate substation networking systems (managed switches, LAN architecture).
- Conduct event, relay, and disturbance analysis to support system troubleshooting and restoration.
- Develop and review SCADA configurations including RTU logic, HMI screens, and communication interfaces.
- Interpret and apply utility standards, industry codes, and relevant cybersecurity requirements.
- Provide technical leadership to multi-disciplinary project teams.
- Mentor and support junior engineers and technical staff.
- Interface directly with utility clients to present engineering solutions and resolve technical issues.
- Serve as Owner’s Engineer by reviewing designs and guiding project execution teams.
Requirements
- 8–12+ years of experience in power systems, protection & control, or substation engineering.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
- Strong knowledge of power system theory, protection principles, and substation design.
- Experience with relay programming and configuration (SEL, GE, Beckwith).
- Experience with networked substation architectures and managed switches (e.g., Ruggedcom).
- SCADA/RTU/HMI experience (e.g., Cimplicity or equivalent).
- Proficiency with power system study software such as ASPEN, CAPE, ETAP, SKM, or similar.
- PE license preferred (any state; Georgia PE is a plus).
- Knowledge of IEC-61850 / GOOSE messaging preferred.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Ability to travel regionally to meet with customers and support field/project needs.

Compensation & Benefits
- Compensation Range: $120,500 – $167,580 base salary annually.
