Senior Substation P&C Engineer

About the role

This position is responsible for the upper tier design and/or checking of deliverables associated with a high voltage substation. This typically includes, but is not limited to: single line diagrams, control house layouts, panel front views, elementary and/or schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, nameplate drawings, bills of materials, and cable schedules, as well as construction turnover documentation.

Responsibilities

• Must be able to complete assignments within budget and schedule with a high degree of accuracy
• Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills, and the ability to convey technical knowledge in simple and practical language
• Professional Engineer (PE) License required, with the ability to get a PE in the state of Kentucky
• Works under the direction of Project Engineers
• Independently evaluates, selects and applies engineering principles and practices relevant to the project requirements
• Prepares design estimates, defines project requirements and design approaches for large or complex projects
• Determines design approach and works with design team to prepare required design documents (e.g., drawings, specifications, calculations, etc.)
• Conceptualizes the initial design approach for a major phase of a large project, or has overall responsibility for the engineering work on a routine project
• Performs technical and coordination checking of deliverables and other project documents. Ensures deliverables comply with IEEE and/or client standards and meet applicable design requirements

Requirements

Must have a Professional Engineer (PE) License, with the ability to get a PE in the state of Kentucky.

Qualifications

Must have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
